COMPETITION UPDATES -

Half Moon Delphi (Maggie) and Tim won their Elementary Summer Regional Championship at Oldencraig (to go with their Winter Regional win at Kingston Maurward earlier in the year), with the highest score of the show. They then went on to the British Young Dressage Horse Championships at Addington to contest the International 6 Year Old Championship. In the semi final they were 2nd behind Valegro, with Legamento in 3rd and Showmaker 4th. These 4 then went through to the gala evening and came in front of a different set of judges. Maggie gained the best improvement in score over the semi final ( 8.28 to 8.42) and with Valegro scoring marginally less than in the semi final (8.94 to 8.88), the gap between the 2 horses was reduced. Again, Legamento was 3rd and Showmaker 4th.

Another homebred, Half Moon Dynasty, made her debut after only 5 weeks under saddle, winning the 4 year old Nuumed qualifier at the Welsh Festival of Dressage. She led a strong class of 18 by a convincing margin with 8.6 for walk, 8 for trot, 9 for canter and 9 for ability to lengthen and shorten.

Half Moon Delicato showed some lovely work though tension crept in probably due to lack of ‘match practice’ and was 8th in the large National 6 Year Old Championship.

Half Moon Bertoni was 2nd in his Intermediaire 1 Regional Championship at Kingston Maurward, so qualifying at that level for the Nationals as well as Inter 2. Whilst disappointingly Bertoni had to miss his first CDI at Fry’s, another youngster did make the trip for his first outing - Half Moon Frizzante (again ridden and produced for us by Tim and Darren) contested the Nuumed Potential International Dressage Horse qualifier and duly won a huge class of 28, making the fourth of our horses to be qualified for the National Championships later this month.

Half Moon Don Dior and Half Moon Willroy have qualified for the Advanced Medium and Medium regionals respectively, and Half Moon Bellarose for the Novice.

CONGRATULATIONS TO REBECCA DRANE AND HALF MOON BARDOLINO

Selected for the Junior Team in Portugal in July, Rebecca and Billy were ‘best of Brits’ in the team test. Billy is out of our grey mare, Waldfee (also the dam of Delphi) and by Bertoni. Whilst Donna Carrera did not make it to Hong Kong for the Australian Olympic Team, we are lucky to have owned the dam (Rivera) of this mare and have the bloodline in many of our youngsters including Half Moon Dynasty where Rivera is the grand dam.
